Akshay Anand (born John Fitzgerald Gardner) is an Indian actor, writer, and director best known for his work in film and television over three decades. Discovered by legendary filmmaker Dev Anand, he began his acting career with a cameo in Hum Naujawan (1985) and gained popularity with the hit television series Indradhanush on Doordarshan. Anand was the youngest of eight siblings and studied at St. Xavier's High School, where he developed a passion for theatre and music. A talented sportsman, he later attended St. Xavier's College, Bombay, before pursuing acting full-time. Throughout his career, Anand has appeared in numerous Hindi films and TV shows, gradually expanding into writing, producing, and directing for both theatrical releases and OTT platforms. He adopted the screen name "Akshay Anand" as a tribute to his mentor Dev Anand, who launched him in the industry.
